Visiting Hours

Family and friends are welcome to visit anytime. Visiting is not restricted except for infection and prevention control.

*Learn more about NSHA's Family Presence Policy, which welcomes up to two people named by the patient to be their family or primary support person/people.

Parking

Free parking.

WiFi and Internet Access

There is free public Wifi. To request access, send an email to wifi@cbdha.nshealth.ca requesting connection information. There will be an automated reply with the information required.

Taigh Na Mara residents are also able to Skype with family members through the recreation department.

Registration process    

Taigh Na Mara is a licensed long-term care facility so admission is either through the Department of Health & Wellness or Veteran’s Affairs Canada (VAC). Residents are assessed prior to admission by Veterans Affairs Canada or through the provincial placement process. 

TV and Phone in your Room

There are cable hook ups and phone jacks in the rooms. Cable is a basic TV hook-up. Anything more than basic cable is the responsibility of the resident/family. Families are responsible to have cable hooked up.

Families may purchase a phone for their loved ones room and are responsible to have phone hooked up.

There is also large gathering room for all residents that has cable TV. 

Inpatient Meals

During your stay at the hospital, you will receive breakfast, lunch and supper daily. If you follow a special diet or have food-related allergies or sensitivities, let us know when you arrive. Food is provided based on your doctor’s diet order. Meals are ordered from a standard menu. 

Spiritual Spaces and Quiet Rooms

There are sitting areas in each of Taigh Na Mara’s six pods. There is also a large gathering room where activities and church services take place. Families can use the gathering room after hours.

The Chaplain’s office is also available for any resident/family who would like to speak to the chaplain privately.
